1 more hour
I went to Elaine's and killed about 3 hours.. Britty leaves tomorrow to go back to school, so Thump will miss seeing her.. Bummer..
I met Elaine's missionaries too.. One is ok, but I don't really like the other one.. At least my first impression of him wasn't that great.. No big deal though.. It's not like I'm at her house every day right?
Monkey was busy while we were there.. The 4 little ones all wanted to be doctors and Monkey was stuck being the patient.. Poor girl had Mr. Potato Head's arm shoved up her nose, and a few whacks on the head from a plastic hammer, and several other things.. But according to the kids, she had a tumor removed from her leg and her brain, her other leg removed, 4 teeth pulled and her ears operated on.. Oh, and Bubby did her hair too..
Their fee was a hundred trabillion thousand dollars and four cents..
It's a good thing we have insurance...

I am thinking about taking Monkey to the zoo today.. It will give us something to do besides sit around and wait for the day to hurry up and be over with.. Tomorrow is going to suck.. His flight won't be in until 8:30 PM so we will have all day tomorrow to wait for him..
Oh, the Steelers won yesterday.. 31 to 0.. Awesome..
Roethlisberger (QB) got a head injury and had to sit out the last 1/2 of the game.. Maybe he will sit out the play-offs too.. One can only hope..

Some People...
MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Meagan McCormic faced television cameras on Christmas Day to plead for the return of her missing 5-month-old son.
"I don't even know if he's dead or alive," she said.
In fact, she knew that the child had never existed, police said.
McCormic was trying to lure an ex-boyfriend back when she invented a missing-child story that triggered a statewide search this week, police said Friday.
Investigators have charged the 22-year-old with filing a false police report. If convicted, they said, she may have to pay authorities for the cost of their search.
She was scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.
McCormic had described her infant son as having a mohawk, a single tooth and a fake tattoo. She told reporters his name was Riley Buchness and that she had left him with a nanny who had a French accent and a gap between her teeth.
She invented the story to lure back an ex-boyfriend by pretending he had fathered a child he did not know about, said Delrish Moss, a spokesman for the Miami Police Department. When the boyfriend showed up and asked to see the child, Moss said, McCormic told him the boy was missing.
"He finally decided to show up, and she created a story and he had no idea," Moss said.
On Christmas Day, the estranged boyfriend attended a news conference with McCormic under the impression that he had a son who was missing.
"I don't understand," John Buchness, 26, said then, choking back tears. "It's Christmas."
McCormic told police she had left her son with a nanny named Camille.
"I don't know if they're in Florida," she said. "I don't know where they are."
Authorities around Florida started looking for the boy and nanny, using the descriptions McCormic supplied, police said. She even gave police a picture of the boy, but Friday they said they believe she had downloaded the photo from the Internet.
Authorities have called off their search.
*Ok, seriously.. This girl had to know that someone was going to call the police and say "I know this girl and she does not have a child.."
Strange dreams..
The first one, Thump was showing me a bag of money that he had hidden in kitchen cabinet.. We sat down at the dining room table and he explained to me that he had been selling crack cocaine.. He said he wasn't using it, just selling it.. For some crazy reason I wasn't bothered by it.. I told him that as long as he wasn't using it, I didn't see a problem.. Then a couple days later I walked into the living room and saw him sitting on the couch smoking crack.. I said "what the hell do you think your doing?" and he said "Sampling my merchandise".. I told him that there was no way I was going to allow our daughter to live in a home with a crack head and he said "well take her to your sister's house, she can live there".. So I said "If she goes, I go with her".. He took another hit of the crack pipe, laughed a crazy laugh and said "see ya then"..
So I packed our stuff, took Monkey and went to my sister's house..
When I got there and told my sister that Thump had decided to sell and use crack she said "well, there is money in it, what are you doing here?".. I explained that Monkey and I had moved out and that we had to stay with her.. She said "no problem" and then told us that Monkey could sleep under Evelyn's bed, and that I could sleep in the little room she had under her stairs..
The next day, I took Monkey and went to Moon's house.. We walked into the living room and saw Sage sitting on the couch with Thump, both smoking crack..
I looked around for Moon and found her on her hands and knees under the kitchen table scrubbing the floor with an SOS pad.. I said "Hey, you have got to do something, they are sitting there smoking crack!" She looked up and said "I know, Sage has been working so hard and he needs a break, let him relax a while.. Besides, he hardly ever gets to spend any time with Thump"..
Then I said "But they are smoking crack right in front of your kids!" and she says "Don't bother me, the baby is coming and I have to get this floor clean".. I went back to the living room and saw that their youngest son Pez had picked up a crack pipe and was about to start smoking it.. Sage and Thump were playing World of Warcraft (BTW, Thump does NOT play computer games) and didn't seem to care, so I grabbed Pez and Monkey and left.. Just as we were getting into the car, Moon opened the front door and yelled "wipe your feet when you get back, I just scrubbed the floor.." Then I woke up..
Yeah, weird..
Oh, and let me make it clear that neither Thump nor Sage has a drug problem, and I have no worries that they ever will..
Ok, the next dream..
We (Thump and I) were living in a place that I didn't recognize.. Thump had just landed in Omaha and I was picking him up at the airport.. I pulled up to the curb and waited for him.. He came out of the airport carrying a large duffel bag.. I had never seen the bag before, but what I was surprised about was his appearance.. He had let the top of his hair grow out but kept the sides shaved.. His hair was dyed black.. He was wearing a yellow tank top, leather jacket and red, white, & yellow pants.. People, if you don't know my husband, this is not normal attire.. He wears jeans and black T-shirts.. Or jeans and long sleeved black shirts.. That's pretty much it.. He is not a colored clothing kind of guy..
So, he gets into the car and sets the bag on his lap.. I ask what is in the bag and he says "nothing important".. We get home and he tells me that he has an errand to run.. I offer to go with him but he said that he needed to go himself.. Before he left he showed me what was in the bag.. It was full of weed and cocaine.. He said "don't worry, it's not mine, I just have to deliver it to someone"..
A while later he called me and told me that he couldn't come home.. He said that he had to go away forever.. He sounded really scared.. Very unusual because Thump isn't afraid of anything.. I told him to come home and he said "I can't! They are going to kill me, I have to run away".. Something else very unusual.. Thump running AWAY from someone? Uh, no.. Would never happen..
I convinced him to at least stop and say good bye to me..
He came home.. He was shaking, pale and looked terrified.. I asked him what was going on and he said that the people that he was delivering the drugs to were coming to kill him.. I asked him why, and he said "because I smoked it all before I got there"..
I heard a car pull up in the driveway, it was Moon and Sage.. Sage walked in the house and said "do you have anymore?" Thump pulled about a pound of weed out of his pocket and he and Sage locked themselves in the bathroom and started smoking..
I looked around for Moon and found her in the kitchen on her hands and knees with an SOS pad, scrubbing my floor.. Before I could say anything she says "Don't bother me, the baby is coming and I have to get this floor clean".. I turned around and saw the kids (Monkey, plus Sage and Moon's 4 kids) all sitting on the couch together.. They were each holding an all day sucker in one hand and a bottle of gin in the other..
I woke up then.
Dude, seriously.. WTF??

Just 4 more days until he's home!

Cleaning..
I had a bag of clothes that Monkey had grown out of sitting behind the couch waiting to be donated to good will.. Yeah, he peed on it..
So, we started in the living room.. I was expecting Monkey to be a pain in the butt about cleaning, but she has been a big help.. She moved all the furniture out of the way so I could vacuum and mop, and then she dusted while I did the floors.. We have been cleaning for 2 hours and only have the living room done, but she still hasn't complained.. Yay..
As long as I give her reuglar breaks she's willing to help :)
So the living room is all bright, clean and fresh smelling..
Then she went into the computer room and noticed the familiar smell of cat pee in there too.. Pumpkin had peed all over her stuffed horse.. GAH! Seriously.. On pay day that cat is getting snipped!
We still have to clean the laundry room, kitchen, bathrooms, computer room and bedrooms, so I guess I should get back to work..

Time to Dye..
So, today I am hitting the bottle.. The hair dye bottle that is..
Why is it, when a man goes grey, he looks distinguished.. When a woman goes grey, she just looks old?

Cold..
I tell ya.. An uninsulated brick house sucks in the winter! Even with the gas heat going, all the doors closed and 2 electric heaters we are still cold.. So we do the housework the wrap up in blankets and watch TV.. Pretty exciting huh?
It's supposed to be -15 tomorrow..
Steelers play the Titans tomorrow.. It's going to be an awesome game.. The Titans are the only team in the NFL doing better than the Steelers.. They are 12-2 and Steelers are 11-3.. Titans have the at home advantage.. Kinda sucks.. It's won't be as cold in Tennessee as it will be in Pittsburgh and Steelers are a cold weather team..
They have to beat the Titans tomorrow and the Browns next week.. Browns won't be a problem :)
But tomorrow they will be playing for the #1 seed in the playoffs..
It's gonna be good!!

Ice..
Monkey's Christmas vacation started a day early.. School was canceled today because of the ice.. She is such a doll.. She looked out the window and saw me struggling with the snow, so she made a pot of coffee for me and cleaned the house.. She rocks!
She's so funny.. Last night she told me she was making a to-do list for her vacation.. I looked at it this morning.. It's a list of all the games she is going to play and all the movies she is going to watch :)
Thump will be home in 10 days!

Yay me!
She makes wonderful macaroons and sends me some every year.. But this year she sent me an awesome surprise.. A cat skull.. I was totally thrilled! Hey. it's a hoodoo thing :)
And another awesome? My neighbor shoveled my sidewalk yesterday.. Whoo Hoo!
I think I will do all the housework then watch old movies all day..
Snow in Vegas?

Speed Demon!
Yeah.. 15 MPH.. All the way there.. Fish tailing everywhere..
I have an awesome car.. In the summer it rocks! Fast, killer engine, not to mention it just looks really frickin' cool!
But in the winter? We might as well be ice skating.. It took us forever getting up the hill going 5 MPH.. I would have liked to go faster, and I did try, but my car pretty much gave me a big ole F-YOU..
The 7 minute drive to Monkey's school took 20 minutes..
On the way up the hill Monkey says "I think I will tell my teacher that I can't do safety patrol"..
Yeah, good idea..
So she will be taking the bus home.. It kind of sucks because she is safety patrol captain, but she is also bus monitor so I guess that makes up for it..
I shoveled the driveway and sidewalk when I got home.. I'll have to do it again in a few hours.. That's one thing I miss about Thump being away.. It can snow 3 feet and he can shovel the driveway in a few minutes.. I have to shovel every inch or so..
Well that's the plan for today.. Shovel snow and crochet in front of the heater..
Whoopie..

Elementary School Drama
She told me the other day that both she and her best friend Chy like the same guy 'B'.. They are pretty ok with each other liking him.. No jealousy or "your not my friend anymore".. At least not yet..
Well... Last Thursday 'B' told the girls that he also liked one of them.. On Friday he admitted that it was Monkey and gave her a necklace..
Monkey blushed furiously but hasn't taken the necklace off since (I sort of wish she would because it's kind of an ugly necklace)..
She is also doodling "I love 'B' all over her notebooks, and they text each other every evening..
I think it's kind of cute, but I'm sure Thump won't be happy about it..

The joys of Mommyhood..

I love being a mom, and I'm pretty good at it (at least I think so).. My job is easy.. My kid is intelligent, independent, self sufficient, all that..
Of course you wouldn't believe that if you were here this morning.. If you were, you would think I had the most helpless child on the planet.. It started at 7:00..
"Mom, I don't have a towel".. She tells me this after she finishes her shower, so she is standing in the bathroom wet and shivering.. So I put down the cup of coffee that I hadn't even taken the first sip of, and bring her a towel..
"Mom I can't find my Jeans".. They are folded neatly in her laundry basket.. Then.. "Mom I can't find my socks".. Again, in the laundry basket.. Right next to the jeans she couldn't find.. I still haven't gotten to my coffee.. I start to pack her lunch.. In the middle of making the tuna salad that she requested last night she says "Mom I can't brush my hair".. I push the cat off the counter just before he manages to put his head into the bowl of tuna and go brush her hair..
Ok, hair is brushed, but the cat is sneaking back to the tuna.. Smack the cat and reach for a quick sip of coffee that is rapidly growing cold.. "Mom, I can't get my boots on".. Leave the coffee and help Monkey with her boots.. Shoo the cat away from the tuna and finish making her lunch.. Finally I get to my coffee, it's cold.. So put it in the microwave and get started on her breakfast..
"Mom I can't find my math book." It's on her bed.. "Mom, I can't get all my stuff in my book bag".. Damn, I was almost to the coffee.. Shove everything into the book bag and give Monkey her breakfast..
"Mom, we have to leave in 10 minutes and you didn't put the car in the garage last night".. She was right.. I left the car in the driveway so I would have to go out in the cold and warm up the car.. Leave the coffee sitting in the microwave... Start the car and put some hot chocolate in a thermos so Monkey will have something warm to drink while she's doing safety patrol..
Coffee is cold again.. "Mom, I can't get my coat zipped".. Dump the coffee.. Just about to leave when "Mom I can't find my whistle".. It's on the T.V.
Get in the car, "Mom I can't get my seat belt on right." Ugh.. Ok, we are moving.. we pull up to the school, Monkey says a quick "I love you" and she's out..
2 blocks from home my cell phone rings.. "Mom, I left my homework on the table"..
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

They play the Titans next Sunday.. Should be a good one.. Titans are 12-2.. They lost to the Texans today.. WOW..
It's a home game for Tennessee.. Will be nice to see them beaten on thier own field..
Bwa ha ha ha!

Finally..
The phones weren't down.. He was just busy and he said that it was late whenever he had time to call and he didn't want to wake me up..
5 days without a phone call and he didn't want to wake me up..
Men..
Frustrated..
Yesterday was day 5. Haven't heard from Thump in 5 days.. 5 fucking days..
His boss e-mailed me yesterday and told me that everything was fine.. But I wonder how he knows this? If he e-mailed him, Thump hasn't read it because he hasn't checked his e-mail.. He told me that he would tell Thump to call me ASAP.. So, if he called him, then the phones are working.. But if the phones are working, I KNOW Thump would not make me worry for 5 days.. No matter how busy he is.. So it's safe to assume that his didn't call him.. So.. All he knows is that Thump is still on the rig.. Nice.. I'm guessing that he just sent an e-mail that said "call your wife ASAP".. A lot of good that will do when he can't check his e-mail..
I haven't said anything to Monkey.. She just figures that he has called while she was at school or something.. She hasn't asked, and I'm not about to tell her "I haven't heard from your father in 5 days and I'm incredibly worried".. No reason why we should both worry..
I'm pretty frickin' close to pulling my hair out..
Steelers play tomorrow.. They play against the Ravens.. Major rival game.. I really wanted to see this game, but it's on CBS, but a different game is being televised, so unless I have satellite (which I don't) I won't be watching it.. Totally bummed..
Damn what a lovely day this is turning out to be!
"Click"
Then go back and do it tomorrow..
And the next day, and the next day, and the next day..
And so on..
Friday, December 12, 2008
*sigh*

Thursday, December 11, 2008
Worried..
I went to his e-mail to see if I could find an e-mail address for the rig and saw that he hasn't checked his e-mail for 3 days either..
Damn.

Thwarted Plans?
Well, I guess my big important trip to the store to buy milk will be totally ruined today..
Curse you demanding others!!
December 10, 2008
Frustrated Resistance
Libra Daily Horoscope
You could find yourself resisting the demands of others today in order to follow your own demands. Trying to accomplish your own goals may feel frustrating, but rather than feeling thwarted, you can remind yourself that there is likely a reason for the situation. The universe has its own timing which does not always correspond to our ideas, so when we feel frustrated, it might be the universe’s way of slowing us down. When we remember that we are always in the right place at the right time, we can stop resisting and begin to look for the gift in the situation. Today let your frustrations fall away as you choose to be where you are.
If others are making demands upon time that you had previously set aside for yourself, then you may need to examine why they feel they can do this to you. Perhaps you have trained them by allowing it previously; thereby telling them this is the way you want to be treated. If you have changed your mind, it may be difficult for others to accept, and you will have to be assertive. Earlier you may have chosen to help others in order to avoid your own path, which would mean facing parts of yourself you weren’t prepared to face. But now your frustration may be an indication that you are ready to move forward with your own life. By gently and assertively communicating with those who are demanding your energy, you take a stand for yourself and begin to invest your energy back into your life today.
Completely unimportant..
Yesterday I was watching True Hollywood Story.. It was about Star Jones.. I'm not a fan of hers really.. I find her annoying and a little too Diva-ish for my taste.. Anyway, as I am sure everyone knows, she had surgery to loose weight.. Good for her, blah blah blah..
But I noticed something kind off odd about her (and like I said in the title of this post, completely unimportant)..
But I think she was way prettier in the face when she was fat.. I think she's a little weird looking now..
Sorry, I didn't have anything good to blog about this morning :)

Waiting..
It was so cold today! Daniel came over to fix the window in the garage that I broke, but the glass that I got was too small.. I didn't measure right.. Darn it..
So I have to go back tomorrow and get a new piece of glass.. Daniel showed me how to fix the window.. Hopefully I can fix it without breaking it..

Steelers VS. Dallas

Sunday, December 7, 2008
Geez..
Monkey and I got in the car to run to Scooters for a latte.. Then I realized that I left the money in the house.. Monkey went to get it and quickly learned that we had locked ourselves out of the house..
It was freezing out, Monkey was still in her P.J.'s and I didn't have a jacket..
I had to throw a rock through a garage window and then push Monkey through it..
Now, since Thump isn't home, Daniel is going to have to put a new window in tomorrow..
Lovely..
On a more positive note..
The Steelers play Dallas today at 3:15.. Yay me!
Gonna be good.. Both Roethlisberger (Steelers QB) and Romo (Dallas QB) have healed from their injuries, and both teams have good defense.. Of course the Steelers have the better :)
And, it's supposed to snow in Pittsburgh.. Very awesome.. There has yet to be a team who can play better than the Steelers at Heinz field in the snow..
Can't wait.. Just 3 more hours..
Whoo hoo!
So Elaine, the next blog post is going to bore you.. I have to blog all about the game ya know :)

One of those days..
Last night Pumpkin (Monkey's cat) rfeused to come in, so he stayed out all night.. I was worried about the cold, but he would run off every time we got close to him so we just gave up.. This morning he comes hobbling to the door.. His face is bloody, his right foreleg is swollen, and he's missing a few claws.. The leg isn't broken, just sprained, and after I cleaned up the blood he didn't look too bad.. I hope the cat he got in a fight with looks worse than he does..
So he's stuck in the house for at least a week and on payday he is taking a trip to the vet.. Going to get him neutered.. I know, I should have done it a while ago..
Then, Angel (Thumps cat) vomits all over the floor.. Nice.. Later Copper (Monkey's dog) brings a dead mouse inside and refuses to let go of it.. I had to fight him for it and only won because I was able to get him in a headlock and pop him on the head..
Then Monkey comes home after spending the day with her friend.. She came home with an attitude like she always does after spending time with this other girl.. Usually all I have to do is say "Watch the attitude" and she stops.. I don't think she realizes that she is doing it until I say something..
Anyway, she gets home and right away starts complaining.. It's too cold, the cat won't get off her bed, the computer is running too slow, blah blah blah.. I told her to stop complaining and figured that would be enough.. Nope.. She went from complaining to arguing to back talk, etc.. She ended loosing her phone, Nintendo DS, computer time, and went to bed early..
And now here it is an hour later and I want to go upstairs and give her back her video game, but I can't because she won't learn anything..
Ah, motherhood is such a joy sometimes..

Gratitude..
It is not easy to be grateful but when you feel least thankful that
is when you are in most need of what gratitude can give you..then you
can look at your day differently with a new awareness of every sweet
gesture and kind thing that has passed your way
here are a few exercises in gratitude to try...
1-think of 5 things you would not change in your life say them aloud
or write them down...
2- practice self gratitude see what attributes in yourself that you
are thankful for...
3-think of 5 memories that you are most grateful for and write them
down...
4- tell 3 people you are closest to why you are thankful to have
them in your life...
5- each morning when you rise offer a silent prayer of thanks for
the gift of another day..
6- before you go to bed think of at least 5 things that you
appreciate that happened to you during the day..
You would be surprised how much better you will feel each day..
Ya might not like this post.. LOL

Novel Thinking
I guess I need more coffee..
Novel Thinking
Libra Daily Horoscope
You may notice yourself thinking in novel ways today, which could make you feel original. You might want to harness this progressive thinking by pursuing lines of thought as far as you can, seeing what new horizons you may discover. It may require a bit of research, but you could actually find that you have come up with a pioneering concept that may well create a new life path for you and many others as well. You seem to have heard the universe’s whispers and listened to their urging you forward, and you might feel rightly tempted to take up the challenge. Today thinking beyond the borders of the usual and accepted may take you into new and progressive territory.
The universe may whisper similar instructions to many people, inspiring them to pursue the same idea or themes in different ways. But each of us has our own unique way of expressing our ideas, and we may be able to reach some people that wouldn’t listen to anyone else. So even if you find out that someone else is writing a movie about volcanoes too, this should not make you give up. When we follow our inner guidance, we know we have something distinctive to bring to the world and we do our best to share that. Your novel ideas today could lead you into a new and uncharted future, so follow them to their logical conclusions and then lead the way for others to share in the adventure.

You Are Chicken Noodle Soup
You are a traditional and conservative person. You value the past, and change frightens you.You are very loyal, especially to your family. You prefer a low-key life, with lots of time spent at home. You like soup because it's easy, quick, and cheap. You tend to have a favorite soup you stick to. Why change a good thing?
Morning..
Well geez.. I don't have anything else to blog about..
Wait, yest I do, but first Elaine stop reading, I have to update Thump about the Steelers..
The Steelers who are 9-3 could clinch a playoff spot this week. To do so, they must beat Dallas at Heinz and Miami and New England both have to lose.
That's the simple version because in the other scenario, Miami can tie, but then the Steelers need the Patriots and the New York Jets to lose.
I don't see the Patriots loosing because they are 7-5 and their next game is against the Seahawks who are 2-10.
They want to win the AFC North Division, which would give them at least one home playoff game, and they then would like to earn one of the top two seeds. That not only would give them a home playoff game but a bye into that game and then a ticket to the AFC championship by winning just once.
Their biggest obstacle to both are the Ravens, who are one game behind them in the division at 8-4. They play the Ravens on the 14. If Baltimore were to beat the Steelers and the teams tied atop the AFC North, things could get a little messy. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head, and that would be a draw. Next up is division record. The Steelers are 4-0 and the Ravens 4-1, but a loss in Baltimore for the Steelers likely could leave the teams tied there as well.
To date, the Ravens are 6-3 and the Steelers 5-3 there, but the Ravens have to play the Washington Redskins, Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars around the Steelers in their final four games. It's possible that category could be tied as well. Then the tiebreaker moves to strength of victory, which is described as calculating the combined winning percentage of the opponents a team has beaten.
So.. There ya go.. Hope that made sense..
